DESCRIPTION:Lessons in Leadership is for leaders eager to grow. Join fellow CXers for a conversation with a woman leader in the community\, so you can grow in knowledge\, learn from others\, and identify ways to stretch yourself.\n\n\n\nEach session our Lessons in Leadership facilitator\, Julie Klima\, Managing Director at Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership at UMKC\, will interview a guest woman in leadership who will share their experience and philosophies. April's special guest is Merideth Rose\, President and CEO at Cornerstones of Care.\n\n\n\nWhether you are a manager or project leader\, new entrant to the workforce with company leadership on the horizon\, an entrepreneur leading in a variety of ways\, or an executive\, you are welcome to join Lessons in Leadership. Real discussion leads to evolving mindsets and behaviors\, and CX's environment is comfortable for open discussion and sharing.\n\n\n\n\n\nMerideth Rose is a champion of children and families\, an active civic leader\, and a catalyst for strength-based community change throughout metropolitan Kansas City. In July 2022\, Merideth was named the second President and CEO of Cornerstones of Care\, a behavioral health agency that serves more than 15\,000 youth and families across Kansas and Missouri each year. \n\n \n\nMerideth came to Cornerstones of Care from the Community Services League in Independence\, Mo. where she served in leadership as Chief People Officer. Before that\, Merideth served as the Director of Neighborhood\, Family Services\, and Caring Communities for the Independence School District.\n\n \n\nMerideth also served as the Public Affairs Officer for the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as principal advisor and Deputy to the External Affairs Director. Her work included leading the agency's largest Community Relations deployment in the 2012 aftermath of Superstorm Sandy in New York.\n\n \n\nMerideth is a graduate of Park University\, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Theory and Human Relations in 2006 and her Master of Public Affairs in 2008. Merideth is also a 2009 Graduate of Mid-America Regional Council's Leadership Academy for Local Government Executives. She currently serves on several boards and civic organizations\, including as a mayoral appointee to Health Forward Foundation's Community Advisory Council\, as a board member of the Missouri Alliance for Children and Families (MACF)\, and the Children's Alliance of Kansas.\n\n \n\nMerideth is supported by a blended family including a loving husband\, 10 children\, three grandchildren\, and two ornery canines. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJulie Klima is the Managing Director at the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership at UMKC\, which is dedicated to enhancing performance and effectiveness in the nonprofit community through education\, research and service. Julie is a passionate advocate for a thriving nonprofit sector and has more than two decades of cross-sector experience leading teams through growth and change.
