Emerging Leaders Alum\, UMB's Shannon Johnson will present on the dynamic process of negotiating\, involving communication\, compromise and how to find mutually agreeable solutions at work and in our daily lives. \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nShannon Johnson is executive vice president and chief administrative officer (CAO) at UMB Financial Corporation. As CAO\, Shannon is responsible for executive oversight of legal and compliance\, internal audit\, credit and risk management\, human resources\, and corporate strategy. The areas Shannon leads ensure regulatory compliance\, develop and implement audit processes\, manage credit and risk controls for the organization\, lead talent management initiatives\, and collaborates with the executive team to shape and execute corporate strategy.\n\n\n\nIn her role as CAO\, Shannon serves as liaison with the Board of Directors. In this capacity she facilitates the planning framework\, supports the board in their recruitment and onboarding of new directors\, provides ESG committee leadership\, and ensures timely and transparent information to support the board in providing oversight\, guidance\, and strategic direction for the company.\n\n\n\nPrior to her current role\, Shannon held positions of increasing responsibility during her more than 20-year tenure with UMB. She was chief human resource officer for four years and led talent acquisition\, development\, compensation\, and associate relations programs earlier in her career. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Nebraska and is a certified Professional in Human Resources  (PHR ).\n\n\n\nShannon is a dedicated industry and community leader. She serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Greater Kansas City\, the Kansas City Repertory Theater\, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission. She is also an active member of the Missouri Bankers Association\, with a seat on its Government Relations committee\, the American Bankers Association\, and the Mid-Size Bank Coalition of America.\n\n\n\nShannon has been recognized for her community and industry leadership. Most recently\, she was honored as one of Ingram's Women Executives of Kansas City (WeKC) 2022\, American Banker's Most Powerful Women to Watch 2021 and the Kansas City Business Journal's Women Who Mean Business 2020.
