SUMMARY:VIRTUAL | Embrace and Empower | Empowered by Empathy to Transform Conversations and Relationships in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Come join CX for our Embrace and Empower Series\, to experience and learn about the ongoing commitment of fostering diversity\, equity and inclusion and walk away with a willingness to adopt organizational practices to embrace and empower everyone.\n\n \nThis experiential program explores the impact of needs-based empathy in our conversations. During this hour of exploration\, you will learn the difference between reacting with non-empathy and responding with needs-based empathy\, a skill that can transform your ability to understand another person with more clarity and connection\, even amidst differences. The empathy skill set can help you create a more positive and productive work environment by fostering a sense of belonging and being seen\, nurturing stronger relationships\, and resolving conflicts with increased understanding and harmony.\n\n\n\nLed by Cathan Kabrelian\, the presentation will provide practical tips and strategies for developing needs-based empathy skills\, cultivating curiosity and care to deepen compassion in the workplace. Empowered by empathy\, you will have a tool to communicate more effectively and build stronger connections with others.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYears ago Cathan Kabrelian became fascinated by the idea that humans could affect their physical\, mental\, and emotional experiences by training their attention and awareness. For years\, she tried pushing down feelings\, blocking out judgments\, and quieting the inevitable thoughts that crowded her mind. Finding neither solace nor effectiveness with these strategies\, she embarked on a path to understand the human experience - the joys\, the sorrows\, the connections\, and the conflicts.\n\n \n\nAlong the way\, Cathan was introduced to the work of Marshall Rosenberg and Thom Bond\, both champions of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)\, also known as Compassionate Communication. This needs-awareness lens transformed her experience of living. The practices of needs-based empathy and compassion deepened the connection with herself and others\, brought more understanding and harmony into all of her relationships\, and gave her the tools to navigate conflict with openness and curiosity. With the needs-awareness skill set\, she now has the inspiration to take full responsibility for her feelings and needs\, an empowering and motivating way to live.\n\n \n\nAs a Compassionate Communication Trainer\, Needs-Awareness Consultant\, and Certified Mindfulness Instructor\, trained in trauma-sensitive teaching and somatic embodiment\, Cathan now understands more clearly what it means to be human\, and she works passionately to share what she has learned about creating a more wonderful life - not just surviving\, but thriving.
