DT | Strategies in Presenting: Engaging Today's Audiences - 2:00 p.m.

This presentation presents the following goal:  Attendees will take 3 to 5 points away from the presentation that will help them have more engaging and productive presentations of their own.  The following are topics to be covered:  Preparation, Format and Setting, Ice breakers, PowerPoint as the “go-to” Engaging audiences, Parking lots for Audience Questions and parting resources.

I was a TFA teacher in a Jacksonville, Florida urban core high school and presenting information was the main component of what I did.  From classes with 20 students to classes with 45 students, I had to constantly tailor my presentation to make sure the information was being absorbed.  After returning to Kansas City, I worked as a Site Coordinator for the Local Investment Commission (LINC).  Presenting information to teachers, parents, and other LINC staff was an essential function of my job.  During these presentations, I found that many of the fundamental skills needed to engage audiences transcend the classroom setting.
